February 21, 2022 @ 11:00am – 5 Tips for Successful Desert Gardening

New to Arizona and frustrated with desert gardening? Or, an experienced desert gardener wanting new ideas? Learn how working with Nature helps the environment while making your gardening easier, less expensive and more beautiful.

March 7, 2022 @ 11:00am – Bringing Nature Home (1st of 3-part series)

This presentation will focus on bringing beauty and biodiversity to the home garden. A natural garden does just that. Based on the book of the same name by Doug Tallamy, participants will discover that a natural garden moves beyond being simply a xeriscape garden. A natural garden is lush and resilient, able to “support life, sequester carbon, feed pollinators and manage water” (Doug Tallamy). If you care about the environment or want to attract birds, pollinators and other wildlife to your garden, this presentation is for you.

March 21, 2022 @ 11:00am – Gardening to Attract Birds (2nd of 3-part series)

Building on the basics from “Bringing Nature Home” this presentation will help you create a beautiful garden for people and birds. This presentation will cover the principles and plants needed to design your garden to attract the colorful birds of Southern Arizona, create a lush oasis while reducing water use, and provide shade that offers nesting while cooling your yard. This presentation will also introduce you to the Tucson Audubon Society’s Habitat at Home program.

April 4, 2022 @ 11:00am – Gardening to Attract Pollinators (3rd of 3-part series)

Southern Arizona is home to some amazing pollinators including, hummingbirds, butterflies and moths, bats and native bees. As their habitat dwindles, learning about these remarkable creatures and what it takes to offer attract them to your garden. This presentation will also introduce you to the Tucson Audubon Society’s Habitat at Home program.

April 18, 2022 @ 11:00am – Living with Wildlife

As delightful as it is to enjoy the birds, pollinators and lizards that come to our gardens, other critters can be more challenging. If you want to deal with those pesky pests while avoiding pesticides that can harm wildlife, then this presentation is for you. You’ll learn how to avoid attracting those unwanted guests in the first place, and how to manage them when they do show up.

April 25, 2022 @ 11:00am – Pruning Desert Plants: Making Your Life Easier & More Beautiful

Whether you do your own pruning or hire someone to do it for you, understanding proper pruning techniques and pruning schedules will make your life easier and your plants more beautiful—and will save you time and money. This presentation will discuss how NOT to prune, how to prune properly for best results, pruning tools, and the best times to prune.
