Barrio de Tubac

Tubac, AZ

This 16,650-square-foot property began with a small front courtyard and a shallow backyard—hardly enough room for the homeowners’ three active dogs to run and play. Beyond simply adding space, the vision was to create a true sanctuary: a place to relax, watch birds, and entertain friends against the backdrop of the surrounding landscape.

To achieve that vision, the perimeter walls were extended to give the dogs plenty of room to roam while establishing greater privacy for the family. The design complements the property’s Santa Fe architectural style throughout, and an outdoor kitchen was added to make entertaining effortless. Sustainable landscaping practices and pollinator-friendly plantings round out the transformation, creating a space that’s as ecologically thoughtful as it is beautiful to live in.

Respecting the Santa Fe architecture, we designed a stunning courtyard entry with custom gate and updated paint colors.

By extending the backyard and front courtyard walls, we created more spacious areas for relaxation, entertaining, and for the dogs to run.
